As we say goodbye to summer, it’s more than likely that your tresses have undergone a few changes from all that sun, sand, and fresh air.  While whipping back your hair in a ponytail or clip was probably your daily routine, the fall and winter months ahead call for a little more primping!  Water, sun, and humid weather can take their toll on all hair types, leaving it frazzled and even damaged.  Even though you did your best with heat-protectant sprays and gels, you’ll probably need a fresh routine to move ahead into the cooler months.  Here are some tips on repairing your sun damaged hair and adopting a new post-summer hair routine:

1. Enjoy a hot oil treatment.  Hot oil treatments are the perfect way to infuse those strands with a deep conditioner, nourishing the hair from root to tip.  Just one little tube or packet each week can help clean up and moisturize your scalp, and it’s a great reason to give yourself a scalp massage too!

2. Start using an ionic hair dryer.  These ionic hair dryers create even heat for hair, and make it much easier to manage curly or thick hair as well.  Ionic hairdryers also make it easier to dry hair quickly; find one with a ‘cool shot’ button so hair has a chance to cool down after a drying session, and you’ll create instant shine.

3. Smooth it up with a hair repair balm.  Try a hair repair balm for medium-wet to dry hair before you go to bed, and you’ll enjoy a glossy and smooth look the following day.  Hair repair balms infused with vitamins and minerals can help you protect hair damage with special lipo-repairing complexes.

4. Use a leave-in conditioner after drying.  Leave-in conditioners work wonders for dry or damaged hair, and can give you that silky-soft feeling with little fuss!  Pick up a travel size version of your favorite when you’re on the go for an easy fix when you need it.

5. Try a nourishing hair maskNourishing hair masks are what the pros at the spa use to give you that intensive scalp treatment, and you can do the same at home with an herbal hair mask!  Try a mud mask for intensive hair therapy at least once a month, and you’ll enjoy the benefits of smooth and silky hair year round.

6. Apply a vitamin E treatment.  The easiest way to do this is to use mix up about four or five vitamin E capsules into your favorite shampoo; just add it to your shower routine and you’ll notice a difference in just a few days.

7. Get a trim!  Keeping hair healthy is simpler when you’re working with fresh strands and removing damaged hair at least every six weeks.  Make a regular appointment with your stylist and keep those tresses under control!

Managing your hair with the change of seasons is easy with these simple tips; just make a few tweaks to your routine, and you’ll be ready for fall and winter with beautiful tresses for any occasion.
