Traveling is always difficult for a diva, how do we easily pack all of the essentials we need for our hair? To help you keep it simple, remember to relax and enjoy instead of overdoing it on your vacation hair. Celebrity Hairstylist Billy Lowe reminds us that “chances are - the styles you wear at home won’t be the same as those at your destination. Over-coiffing will only make you stand out. For example, a simple pony tail will get you from a casual outing to a nice dinner. Use a low tie-back and a side part for a more classy look. While you may need to bring a styling tool or two, remember it’s not a beauty pageant. Take the basics - make it easy on yourself - and enjoy your trip.” |
Billy gives us some hit top tips for easy hair traveling: | 1. EVERY traveler should have a pre-made “Grab & Go” bag for their styling aids & personals. It’s pre-thought and pre-planned, so when you travel, all you need is there and ready to go. So make your list and plan ahead! | |
2. Stick to the Ziploc bag rule: A large Ziploc bag will hold all you need (or a cosmetic bag about that size if Ziplocs just won’t cut it for you). If it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t go. This doesn’t mean pack 2-3 bags, all of your styling aids should fit in one bag. It’s size smart and prevents messy spills. (**Find Cosmetics Bags**) |

3. Styling aids to bring: don’t forget your shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, and 1 other styling aid (leave-in conditioner, mousse, or whatever you normally use). Small combs, clips, and rubber bands will also fit and may be helpful in times of a travel hair crisis! 4. Use travel size bottles for your liquids. You can buy 2 and 3oz travel size bottles from your local drugstore and fill them with your favorite products. It’s always best to use your own products - as they are usually specific to your own hair care needs. Or, sometimes you can ask your stylist for samples. The foil packs are easy to carry along. Avoid the odd shaped containers and 14" tall hairspray cans, there’s just no room! (**Find travel size shampoo, travel size conditioner, travel size hairspray**) 5. Team Pack: If you are traveling with friends or family - share the load. No need for 3 or 4 people to bring a hair dryer and curling iron. It’s okay to share your beloved hair styling electrics! 6. Most hotels have a hair dryer that will work just fine on your trip. Ask the hotel when you are booking if there are hair dryers in the rooms. If not, ask if they have extras in the hotel so you don’t have to pack one. 7. Finally, decide early to wear styles that are quick, simple and easy to achieve. You’ll have a better time (and so will your travel companions since they won’t have to wait for you to get ready!). Know what styles look good on you and stick to what you do best! If that means a ponytail everyday, then so be it! At lease you’ll look fabulous on your vacation, even if there isn’t much variation. |
