Hempfest in Seattle, August 21-22. Known as the largest “protestival” in the world, Hempfest is a free event that is held along the beautiful waters of Seattle’s Elliott Bay and features speakers, vendors, and live and electronic music.
Burning Man in Black Rock City, August 30-September 6: Burning Man is held in an inhospitable location with a brutal climate – and is the most amazing art festival anywhere in the world. Only the truly hardcore can handle this one.
Electric Zoo in New York City, September 4-5: Held at Randall’s Island Park, this two-day event brings together some of the biggest names in electronic music for a rave to end all raves.
Sonar Chicago, September 9-11: One of the world’s greatest electronic music festivals, Sonar, is held in Barcelona every summer- but this year they start a fall version of their party in the windy city. The inaugural event is expected to focus more on experimental electronic sounds.
Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, September 18- October 3: Though you will have to cross this pond for this one, Munich’s Oktoberfest is a huge celebration of the brews that lasts for weeks in Bavaria, located in southern Germany. Might as well make a whole European trip out of it!
Decibel Festival in Seattle, September 22-26: For cutting-edge electronic music and five days and nights of city celebration, Decibel brings together artists and fans for an inspiring sonic experience that will move your body and stimulate your mind.
LovEvolution in San Francisco, October 2: This free dance party, parade and music festival is quite possibly the largest in the country. Taking place on the streets of San Francisco, it draws over a hundred thousand people- might want to reserve your hotel room now.
Austin City Limits in Austin, October 8-10: Austin is known as the live music capital of the world, this festival, held in Zilker Park in the city, highlights the good, the weird and the what-the-heck. Nearby Barton Springs makes for a cool diversion.
Voodoo Experience in New Orleans, October 29-31: Taking place on Halloween weekend and also called the Voodoo Festival, this event is a multi-day arts and music festival that boasts huge rock and hip hop talent.
Taste of the World Festival in Los Angeles, November 5-7: A multicultural festival for the diverse city of LA, Taste of the World Festival brings together five continents of food with small sample plates and live entertainment for only $10.
